Honor the Gift
Are you like me? Have you had to bite your tongue when you see otherwise intelligent people make boneheaded comments on social media? Their postings leave me shaking my head because they dishonor someone or something due to an incomplete knowledge of the subject matter. The concept of honor is foreign to many people in the US while in other countries it is very much alive.

Announce the Gift

Announce the Gift
To announce—to make known publically, to proclaim, to declare—the question is to whom? The angels announced the birth of the Christ child to the shepherds and a Star was the method of delivery for the wise men. Simeon made a proclamation by the power of the Holy Spirit. The custom today is to send out birth, wedding, and graduation announcements, whether via postal mail or social media. But when it comes to our gift this Christmas, how, when and to whom should we announce?

Embrace the Gift
Mark Lowry wrote what I believe are inspired lyrics to what has now become a Christmas classic, “Mary Did You Know?” The last line of the song says: “Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect lamb? This sleeping child you’re holding is the great I AM.” Mary was embracing the Gift of the Messiah.

Deliver the Gift

With the holiday season in full gear, you see delivery trucks all over the place. They make several stops at my office daily and I also see them in the neighborhood dropping off packages that will delight the recipients of those gifts on Christmas morning. God’s gift to you is always meant to delight you and bring you to your highest fulfillment and purpose.

Wrap the Gift

Wrap the Gift
Having lived in Southern California since 1981, I don’t have to wrap up in the winter months like my friends and family do back in Missouri. Nevertheless, I still do wear a coat as the winds can get nippy here and cause us to feel a chill. But the cold here is nothing like what other parts of the country experience in December and into January and February. We wrap ourselves in coats to keep the cold out and the warmth in. Life can be like that, as well. Sometimes we wrap ourselves in good things like love and gratefulness while other times we wrap ourselves in fear and timidity.
