Open the Gift

Written by Rodney Johnson on Friday, December 07, 2012 | Category: Holiday

In his book, The Five Love Languages, Dr. Gary Chapman says that if we learn other people’s love language we can communicate with them on a much deeper level. Probably my wife’s “love language” is acts of service. So if I take out the trash, put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and go through my “stack of stuff” without having to be asked, it will show her that I love and value her. In short, I’ll be speaking her love language. My “love language” is the receiving of gifts. If you want to show me that you love me, you will give me a gift. The gifts don’t have to be expensive but it is more the expression of “Hey, I thought of you when I saw this and wanted to bless you with it.”

Rekindle the Joy

Written by Rodney Johnson on Thursday, December 06, 2012 | Category: Holiday

Every time I walk into my favorite Starbucks coffeehouse, I am reminded right on their front door to “Rekindle the Joy.” I think this TRINSPIRATION™ phrase is timely. Having just gone through a bruising election season that was anything but joyful for either party, I for one am going to take this to heart and make every intention to “rekindle the joy” in my life on a variety of levels this holiday month.
