Tax the Gift

Tax the Gift
I received a text late last night informing me that Valerie and Kelly who had boarded a plane in Iowa and had it de-iced were now taxiing back to the terminal because the pilots had gone over the time they were allowed to fly. They weren’t sure if they were going to have stay overnight in Iowa or catch another flight. Fortunately, another crew was available and I received another happy text they had landed in LAX. The taxiing incident did not “tax” their patience too much.

Feel the Gift

Gift-12-10-14

I have a business coach who is so well rounded. Not only does he give insights into how to make my business grow and help more people, he also points out that my spirituality is connected to everything about me. A year ago we dug deep and for the first time I really began to feel what it would be like if I did not make changes. It wasn’t fun at first to feel the feelings but ultimately it was very cathartic. As a result I am on track to close my best year ever in real estate. But even more, I am learning to “Enjoy the Journey” and experience my feelings.

Anticipate the Gift

Anticipate the Gift
Are you like me, in that you pretty much know what presents you are going to get for Christmas? But then sometimes, I am dramatically surprised like the year my wife gave me flying lessons. Totally caught me off guard. If you are expecting a baby, you know you’re getting a child and you may or may not know the sex. But either way, anticipation begins to build during the time leading up to its birth. I mentioned in a previous post that I am anticipating the gift of being able to see the truth in any given situation. To that end, I am practicing receiving.

Accept the Gift

Accept the Gift
I recently closed one of the strangest transactions in all of my 28+ years of selling real estate. My sellers had been more than fair with buyers who were three months late in getting loan approval and closing. Ultimately a final date was given to the buyers by which they had to close escrow…and they missed it by 23 hours. The sellers considered the transaction canceled; however, an unalterable procedure in the County Recorder’s office got it recorded the following day. It was two more days before the sellers realized their house had actually closed. I was finally able to get them to “accept the gift” of a closed transaction.

Prepare the Gift

Prepare the Gift
We’re just a few days past Thanksgiving but I still recall the preparation that went into our meal. Our son-in-law was visiting and we asked him to cook the turkeys. Notice it was plural—turkey(s)…and it was more than two. We actually had three turkeys prepared three different ways. One was cooked on the bar-be-cue, while one was wrapped in bacon, and the third was slathered in a fresh herb mix. Needless to say there was a lot of preparation that was put into our delicious meal with major contributions from my wife, Valerie, and her mother along with my son-in-law, Dan.
